We will be providing rootbeer for the kids and adults out of a mock saloon for those coming to the event. Rootbeer will be $1 for the smalls and $5 for the large and will include an Oil Horse Glass.
Although inspired initially by the story of the bank robbery and the heroism of Longview’s citizens and law enforcement, Dalton Days is a celebration of our western heritage and has become a fun, family friendly tradition! Families will enjoy many children’s hands-on activities and Western style entertainment. As was once tradition, Dalton Days will again be held downtown in front of the Gregg County Historical Museum and be free to the public. The Dalton Days festival begins with a bang at 10:00 a.m. the first of four reenactments of the infamous bank robbery with an emphasis upon the bravery and heroism of the citizens and law enforcement in Longview in 1894. Western entertainment will include various local bands from 10:20a.m. - 11:00a.m., 11:15a.m. - 11:50a.m., 1:20p.m. - 2:00p.m., and 2:00p.m. - 2:50p.m., hosted on a stage in front of Citizens National Bank. There will also be artisans and craftsmen such as a blacksmith, soap maker, wood craftsman, and many others. The museum will once again partner with Longview World of Wonders Children’s Museum to host our children’s activity area. This area will feature bounce houses, a petting zoo, children’s games and many other activities designed to create a family friendly interactive experience. Fredonia Street will be filled with wonderful food vendors and souvenirs that adults and children will want to take home to commemorate the event.
